Makeup products create a lot of waste, from lipstick, to blush, concealer, cleanser, lotion, etc. I know that for teens, one of the things we love to use most are face masks. Peel off, clay, and the paper masks too. I love going into Ulta Beauty and Sephora to buy face masks, cleansers, and lotion. We use so much of it, and then just think of the people who wear a full face of makeup everyday! Just think of how often they go to the store to buy eyeshadow, concealer, blush, and more! Thats a lot of trash…
One way for kids (and adults) to have fun is to make their own face masks! I think its really fun, because there are so many different varieties of face masks you can make! There are ones for dry skin, oily skin, blackheads, acne, and a lot more.
Today I made a clay mask, and a sugar scrub. In the past I have made a peel off charcoal mask, and avocado mask. Its really fun and simple!
You can look up your own recipes or go to this link below, but I can share the recipe for the masks I made…
Clay Mask: 1 tsp honey, 1 tsp Aloe Vera (make sure it is pure, but I just used the plant), 1 tsp bentonite clay
Sugar Scrub: 1/2 cup coconut oil, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 tbsp honey, 10 drops any essential oil, 7 drops tea tree oil

Of course, there are times when you just want to buy stuff! The lesson is: is it something you really need? It is easy to go crazy and just want to buy stuff that is not necassary! However, if you do need something – make good choices. At the mall it’s fun to shop at Lush, and even in Sephora, they carry companies like Youth to the People, that has all natural ingredients and eco-friendly packaging. (Glass bottles only!)
